I believe the sociologists call it "group think." This book does a great job of bringing attention to the dangers of this type of behavior. When I hear people say they don't like politics I think, sure, as much unpleasantness as we can avoid the better, right? No good candidates to choose from so why bother? Well according to Patty, if you like prairie dogs ...or deer! Maybe they are some of your best friends or your own family. Consider getting involved. It does matter. Adorable picture book. Important subject matter. Great for kids and adults.
This little tale is very thought-provoking and promotes discussion of hard questions coming from our school-aged kids. Our kids are confused and upset about the things they hear, and how the current events may impact their friends at school and their families. This book is a very entertaining conversation starter within our family. It is important for children to understand the difference between being a leader and a bully. I love the messages of the book including, "We said no to anger, said no to hate." Amen. Thank you, Patty. Thank you, Manton Clue.
How timely it is! This book is great for kids, but even better for adults, given today’s political climate. It’s a must-read story for teaching tolerance (and basic manners!) to children – and Mom and Dad! The current presidential race seems to bring out the worst of the worst in everyone – liberals, conservatives, socialists, communists, independents, environmentalists and so on…. This short book highlights some of the issues that have been permeating this presidential race, namely bullying, racism and intolerance. The authors point out the dangers of this national mood through a simple story that any child can understand. Read it, share it, and preach the message to your kids -- and to your friends who think the nasty rhetoric is okay. It's not. I love the line “Make the Prairie great again” and the message that it is already great. America is already great, too, so please teach that to your children. And to your friends who don't believe it. I especially like the discussion questions about leadership. What makes a good leader? We should all answer those questions, no matter what age. Thank you, Manton Clue. This is great!
